Our Services

Dentures are artificial replacements for your natural teeth and gums. If an accident, disease, or oral health care has left you with only a few healthy teeth, or none at all, we can suggest the right dentures for you to replace your missing teeth.
Like Fingerprints, No Two Are Alike
Your dental prothesis is handcrafted to match your age, complexion, and facial features. Considerations such as the shape of your jaw line, lips, eyes, eyeglasses, and hair colour are noted.
There are two types of standard dentures: complete and partial. For both types of dentures we will make a model of your teeth by taking impressions. The models are then used to create custom dentures.

Complete Dentures

A complete denture is a removable prosthesis that replaces all teeth within an arch; thus some patients have only an upper denture, some only a lower, and some have both upper and lower complete dentures.

Since there are no remaining teeth in the arch, we can custom design a smile that fits your age, lip line, and face. The ability to have a wax try-in appointment allows us to verify and modify the teeth before finishing the denture resulting in a perfect look every time.

Whether you’ve lost your teeth due to an accident, disease, or poor oral hygiene, complete dentures serve as artificial replacements for your natural teeth and gums. You can expect a natural gum looking acrylic base with realistic teeth individually set to match your mouth. These dentures are removable.

Our on-site denture lab allows for maximum comfort and functionality with very few restrictions on what you can eat while wearing your dentures. Your dentures are hand crafted in our lab to the specifications you desire.

Benefits of Removable Partial Dentures
A removable partial denture may help preserve the natural tooth placement of your existing teeth. They ensure proper chewing and digestion by thoroughly grinding your food. A properly designed partial denture will assist in support of your existing teeth. A removable partial denture will add enjoyment to your life.

Partial Dentures

Partial dentures are also called “removable partial denture prostheses” or “partials” and tend to be used when just a few teeth are missing. Partial dentures are made up of one or more artificial teeth held in place by clasps that fit onto nearby natural teeth. It is an important step in developing an attractive smile and restoring function to where missing teeth once were.

Partial dentures can be constructed out of a metal and acrylic composition or completely out of acrylic. They can also be made as flexible partials. The design process involved in creating a removable partial (denture) is specific to your needs.

Every effort is made to design a self-cleansing partial denture that preserves the remaining teeth and oral structures. You can take the partial denture out yourself for cleaning and sleep.

When a partial denture is designed, we understand that chewing places a strain on the remaining teeth during eating. Partial dentures are designed with this in mind so that the chewing forces can be distributed evenly over the entire remaining teeth and soft tissues. Design modifications to your remaining teeth may be required to help equalize these forces.

Metal partials are considered stronger structurally, thinner, and more hygienic than an acrylic partial. Acrylic partials are usually recommended as a transitional or temporary partial. At Berkenbosch Denture Clinic, we’ll discuss your best treatment plan options and help you choose the best partial for you.

Implant Retained Dentures

Implant dentures are dentures that are secured to the jaw. Implant dentures can be fixed (screwed on) or removable (clipped on through attachments). The number of implants required may vary depending on your needs and bone level. We will have a thorough discussion with you in order to get enough information to guarantee the right decision has been taken. This is why we offer free consultations.
Benefits of Implant Retained Dentures
There are several benefits of having implant retained dentures, including improved confidence, stability during eating, increased preservation of bone, decreased gum tissue shrinkage, less food seepage under the denture, superior aesthetics, the closest feeling of natural teeth, and dietary nutritional benefits.

Immediate Dentures

When the complete extraction of your remaining teeth becomes unavoidable, an immediate denture is the solution. This process will help you avoid the embarrassment of being without teeth for a long period of time. We will initiate this procedure before your teeth are extracted by making impressions of your existing teeth and gums prior to the surgery.

Immediate dentures are made before your teeth are removed. We will take measurements and makes models of your jaws during your first visit. Once your teeth are extracted, we will insert the immediate dentures. The benefit of immediate dentures is that you are not without teeth during the healing period, which can take up to 6 months. During the healing period, your bones and gums can shrink and your immediate dentures may need to be realigned for a proper fit.

Relines

A reline is a procedure where the tissue-bearing surface of your existing denture is re-adapted to your new gums. Over time your gums may change due to many reasons including normal healing, trauma, or weight-loss. The main objective of a reline is to provide a more comfortable and ultimately better fitting denture. With our on-site laboratory we can offer same day relines. That means you are without your denture for less than a day!

The denturist will take a new impression of your gums in the morning, work on the denture throughout the day and have it back to you before the end of the day. Enjoy a free consultation before booking your reline to make sure it is the best option for you.

Overdentures

Overdentures utilize either existing teeth or dental implants to rest a denture over to aid in retention and stability. There are many different ways to design overdentures, some are even made to snap into place.

Fiber Force

If you are prone to breaking your denture, we have the solution for you. A fiberforce mesh can be inserted into your denture during the fabrication process. This mesh will be invisible as it is embedded into your denture but will provide you with the strength and confidence to chew even the toughest food without breaking. Come in for a free consultation and see if a fiberforce is right for you!

Soft Liners

If you struggle with discomfort from a hard denture base, you may want to consider a soft liner. These are appropriate for
  • Flat or nearly flat gum tissues
  • Gums with thin tissues over bony areas
  • Chronically sore gum tissues
